Our team of professionals has developed specifications and designs for various types of waste processing facilities, including materials recovery facilities (MRFs), energy conversion systems, and compost operations. Feedstocks include mixed waste, source-separated materials, wood/yard wastes, and construction/demolition debris. Because of its nationally recognized design and operating experience, CalRecovery was retained by the U.S. EPA to prepare a design manual for MRFs and is regularly asked for expert advice pertaining to design and operation of waste processing facilities.
Engineering assistance for MRF, compost facility, and C&D facility, City of Napa, California
CalRecovery provided engineering assistance related to design review, procurement, and operational startup and monitoring for the City’s materials diversion complex. Engineering design work included specifications of input material characteristics and quantities and required technical levels of performance. Startup services included monitoring of equipment installation and acceptance testing and certification.
Provision of facility planning and design services, Sacramento County, California
CalRecovery led a multi-firm project team that assisted the County on a wide-ranging project involving strategic planning and design and specification of capital improvements for its North Area Recovery Station.
The 1,200 ton/day station accepts waste and source-separated materials and is composed of the following key operations: receipt and transfer of mixed solid waste, single-stream recyclables, and green waste materials recovery; household hazardous waste collection facility; and LNG fueling station.
