Dr.
Diaz has been involved in the field
of waste management for over 30 years.
He has conducted waste management
studies, technical and economic assessments
of solid waste systems, environmental
analyses of resource recovery systems,
and marketing studies for recovered
materials and energy. He has participated
in a large variety of projects involving
waste processing for material and
energy recovery. His experience in
waste processing technologies includes
recycling, composting, co-composting,
incineration, mechanical processing,
and anaerobic digestion. He was a
pioneer in the integration of solid
waste systems, recognizing the potential
of the concept for minimizing residue
generation.
Dr. Diaz has more than 350 publications
and has co-authored 15 books in the
field of waste management. He has
also conducted training courses throughout
the world, and is a visiting professor
in universities in Europe, North America,
and Latin America. He is a member
of the Editorial Board of several
journals in the field of waste management,
Editor-in-Chief of Waste Management,
Consulting Editor for BioCycle,
and Chair of the Working Group on
Developing Countries of the International
Solid Waste Association (ISWA).

George
M. Savage,
Executive Vice President
Mr.
Savage has been involved in various
aspects of solid waste management
for more than 30 years. He has an
international reputation in the area
of waste processing technologies and
in the characterization of the solid
waste stream for purposes of system
design. He has participated in numerous
studies involving technical, economic,
marketing, and environmental evaluations
of waste management and resource recovery
systems. Mr. Savage has been involved
in a number of projects involving
the processing of solid waste and
other organic waste materials, including
analysis of raw feedstock and recovered
product properties, evaluation of
market/user demand and specifications
for recovered products, and assessment
of material collection and processing
alternatives. He has managed large
multi-disciplinary projects that involved
the feasibility, evaluation, design,
and/or financing of waste processing
facilities. He has designed and implemented
several recycling systems, including
identification and acquisition of
sources of financing, startup training,
and monitoring of operations. Mr.
Savage has managed over 60 waste characterization
and sampling studies throughout the
world. He has developed waste sampling
protocols and conducted sampling programs
for raw and processed waste in projects
conducted for the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, U.S. Department
of Energy, the U.S. Navy, and American
Society for Testing and Materials
(ASTM).
Mr.
Savage has published over 400 reports
and technical papers in the areas
of waste and energy management, waste
processing, performance guarantees,
system testing, secondary materials
recovery and utilization, and thermal
conversion. He is co-author of 15
books, and is often called upon to
make presentations and to offer expert
testimony. Mr. Savage is a member
of the Editorial Board of Waste
Management.

Linda
L. Eggerth,
Senior Vice President
Ms.
Eggerth has been involved in the field
of waste management for over 25 years.
She has both directed and participated
in a large variety of waste management
and resource recovery projects and
has developed an international expertise
in several areas, including planning,
privatization of solid waste services,
development and preparation of terms
of reference, rate analysis, economic
evaluations, public education, market
analyses for recyclable materials,
and waste characterization. Ms. Eggerth
regularly assists communities in the
implementation of recycling and composting
programs, and has participated in
international projects in Latin America,
Asia, and Europe. Ms. Eggerth has
assisted the cities of San Francisco,
Los Angeles, and San Jose, California
in various aspects of recycling, and
has assisted communities in the United
States, Argentina, the Philippines,
and American Samoa in procurements
for solid waste services.
Ms.
Eggerth has published several articles
on various aspects of solid waste
management and is a co-author of Solid
Waste Management for Economically
Developing Countries and of Composting
and Recycling Municipal Solid Waste.
She is the Managing Editor of Waste
Management.
